Measuring Dry Film Coating Thickness According to SSPC-PA 2

This article gives a brief review of the history of SSPC-PA 2 and describes the five steps to measuring DFT according to the most recent edition of PA 2. The author gives special attention to how PA 2 addresses the required number of coating thickness measurements; the acceptability of gage readings as well as spot and area measurements; nonconforming thickness; and measuring DFT on coated edges and pipe exteriors.
